This is Cinerama (1952)
A standard screen black and white film, featuring director Lowell Thomas
who shows how, mankind has historically tried to create the illusion of
depth and movement by artistic, mechanical and photographic means.
The film opens with a realistic “ride” on the Rockaway Playland Roller Coaster,
followed by the Temple Dance from “Aida,” views of Niagara Falls, the canals
of Venice, a bullfight, a plane ride and other spectacles. Advances in
stereophonic “surround” sound are demonstrated throughout.

the story of one pioneer family. Zebulon Prescott (Karl Malden) heads
west from New York with his family (Carroll Baker, Debbie Reynolds)
in the early 1800s. His descendents eventually reach the Western shore
after years of hardship, war, and struggle.

It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)
After a long prison sentence, a man speeds to a California park where he once
hid $350,000 from a holdup. He accidentally drives over a cliff in view of a
handful of witnesses. The dying man confesses to them the truth of the buried treasure, and a wild chase to claim the cash ensues.


Krakatoa, East of Java (1969)
In the late 19th century, a sea captain embarks on an expedition in the Dutch
Indies to salvage a shipwreck containing a cargo of rare pearls. But his own
ship carries a volatile cargo of convicts in its hold, and they are sailing
dangerously close to an erupting volcano on the island of Krakatoa.


2001: A Space Odyssey (1969)
A mysterious monolith buried on the earth in the ancient past had enormous
implications for humankind’s development. Another one, discovered on the
moon, sets off a space quest in the year 2001, where Captain Dave Bowman
(Keir Dullea) and his renegade onboard computer, HAL-9000, seek the
force behind the monolithic mystery.
